The orphanage home was founded by Rev. Jeremiah Appiah and is situated at Nkwatia in the Kwahu South District in the Eastern Region of Ghana. The mission of the orphanage home is “to take care of the needy children to make them assets.
The orphanage houses forty (40) children of various ages ranging from nine (9) months to twenty (20) years who either have no family or have lost their families. Currently four (4) of the children were in Senior High School and are funded by the orphanage, some of the children are in Junior High School and some under apprenticeship.
The orphanage home depends on help from philanthropists, churches, schools and organizations that donate funds and other material items. Donors support the orphanage by giving items such as bags of rice, clothing and other food items.
The orphanage has a two (2) classroom block which serves as kindergarten (KG). The home has the vision of building more classrooms for the home but could not do so due to lack of funds.
The orphanage has water storage systems which depends on rain water and pipes available for daily usage which were donated by philanthropists.
Each room that accommodates the children has a toilet and bath facility. The orphanage home also has separate toilet facility for the care-takers and other staff members.
The orphanage has two (2) teachers. One of the teachers is a retired teacher and the other is a Senior High School graduate.
The orphanage home is situated in the outskirts of the town (Nkwatia) and is close to the Nkwatia-Abetifi Highway. It is a gated community which has about seven (7) rooms which houses the children, their care-takers and other staff members. It also has an apartment which houses the founder and his family.
The orphanage home has the following facilities
- A large compound which serves as a playing ground for the children
- Two (2) spacious rooms with toilet and bath facilities for both boys and girls
- An internet café
- A room which serves as a temple which serves the religious and entertainment purposes of the orphanage
- A kitchen
- A two (2) classroom block
- Four (4) rooms that accommodates the care-takers and kitchen staffs
In general, the orphanage home needs support for almost everything including housing, food items, finance, and home materials.
